2001-2004

At the time of the collaboration, Labics was located in Rome’s Gazometro neighborhood, an area with an industrial past, undergoing rapid residential and cultural transformation. In this dense and vibrant context, my interventions strike a balance between architectural rigor and sensorial openness: a sequence of solids and voids, matter and light, restoring the space to its natural rhythm. The architecture engages with its context without chasing it: it absorbs its historical and structural strength, yet reimagines its identity through a simple, thoughtful, and contemporary language. A breath of fresh air in the beating heart of the city.

My role

In the Labics projects, I focused on finding a delicate balance between structure and lived space. Each decision was the result of a thoughtful, rigorous, almost meditative process, where time spent reflecting became an essential part of the outcome’s quality. I learned to build a project as a sequence of relationships: between full and empty, matter and light, solidity and grace. The interventions enhanced the purity of materials such as dark wood, steel, and glass, carefully combined to shape a space that is sober, profound, and intensely architectural.
